Frequently Asked Questions

If you plan on using your extended healthcare benefits, please check with your insurance provider to confirm that your plan covers sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), which are my designations.  A receipt for reimbursement will be provided at the end of each session.  Please note, I do not direct bill.

Please give at least 24 hours' notice when cancelling an appointment. Clients will be charged their full appointment fee for all missed sessions or sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice. Clients arriving late for appointments are entitled to receive the remainder of the scheduled appointment for the full appointment fee.

At this time, I am accepting e-transfers and credit card payments on Jane. Session fees must be paid prior to the session.

EMDR SPecific Questions

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach designed for working with distressing or traumatic memories. The theory behind EMDR is that many psychological difficulties are the result of distressing life experiences which have not been stored in our memory properly and are said to be unprocessed or blocked. These traumatic memories may need some help to become processed, and EMDR is one way to do this.

EMDR therapy focuses on three time periods: the past, present, and future and processing the associated target memories. To clear those three main memory networks, there are 8 different phases that need to be completed.

Phase 1: History Taking and Treatment Planning

Phase 2: Preparation

Phase 3: Assessment

Phase 4: Desensitization

Phase 5: Installation

Phase 6: Body Scan

Phase 7: Closure

Phase 8: Reevaluation
